(DALLAS, TX.) — Today, Central Market announced the sale of two North Texas properties located in Grapevine and McKinney to Safeway, Inc.  In 2016, Central Market purchased six Sun Fresh stores from RLS with plans to renovate and open two new stores in Dallas.

A complete facility renovation is underway at the Midway Road and Northwest Highway location with an expected opening date of first quarter 2018.  This site will be the first new destination market for people who are really into food since opening the Preston-Royal store in early 2012.  No firm timeframe has been set for the opening of a second store, located at the intersection of McKinney and Lemmon Avenues in the flourishing Uptown neighborhood.

“We are excited to expand our Central Market footprint in the Dallas area, and these two stores will certainly be foodie destinations,” said Mabrie Jackson, Director of Public Affairs, Central Market.

In addition to the Safeway sale, Central Market previously sold the property at Mockingbird and Abrams to Lincoln Properties.

Central Market’s announcement brings the total number of Dallas stores to four, and in North Texas—seven.  Currently, there are nine store locations statewide in Dallas, Plano, Houston, Austin, Fort Worth and San Antonio.
