A Gem from Provence

Okay, close your eyes and picture it. An afternoon touring the hills of a vineyard, rows and rows of green grapevines and over just beyond a bright purple field of lavender, you stay and enjoy an early-evening game of pétanque while you sip a cool glass of rosé. This is Provence and the home of one of our new favorite wines ...

Let us introduce you to Bo Rivage, a pale pink rosé with delicate flavors and a freshness perfect for summer, from the heart of Coteaux Varois en Provence. I tried this wine for the first time yesterday and have to tell you how really excited about it I am. Rosé is the perfect wine for our current patio season, and this one did not disappoint. Made from a blend of Syrah and Grenache, it has notes of melon, citrus fruits, and a good minerality. So bring on the salads, grilled fish, and any day ending in “y”.

The story behind this wine is also great. Made by the Breban company, one of the last family owned companies producing artisanal rosé and sparkling rosé in the Coteaux Varois en Provence. Coteaux Varois en Provence encompasses 28 quaint towns tucked between Côtes de Provence and Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence right in the center of Provence. The company started in 1942 and two generation have been managing the company with passion and a philosophy for quality since. Taking advantage of the surrounding limestone hills and slightly cooler temperatures, which helps to create rosés like Bo Rivage, that are characterized by an elegant, pink color and a fresh bouquet, with notes of red fruits, spices, and herbs. Today, after 75 years of wine production, the Breban company are famous in France and all over the world for the quality of the wines of Provence and for their premium hand crafted wines.
