Dallas, Texas – When Central Market opened in Dallas in 2002, it revolutionized the way Dallas shoppers and foodies thought about grocery shopping. Now, ten years after opening its doors to hungry fans, the Dallas Lovers Lane Central Market will celebrate its first decade with four days and nights dedicated to reliving the excitement of those first days in operation at the corner of Lovers Lane and Greenville Avenue.
Chef Visit– The Dallas 10th Anniversary celebration begins Thursday, September 20, with a visit from superstar chef Cat Cora, host of Bravo’s Around the World in 80 Plates and the first female winner of Iron Chef. The chef will sign copies of her cookbooks in the downstairs café from 5-6 pm before moving to the cooking school to teach a class. Slots for both are limited and can be booked online via centralmarket.com. Books will be available for sale.
Stroll Around– On Friday, September 21, the store will host a two hour 'stroll around'-style food and wine tasting. Each ticket holder will kick off the evening with a glass of wine with a commemorative wine glass in the 10th Anniversary tent, then stroll the store to sample around two dozen bites and sips of locally made products, meats, cheeses, sweets and specialities from our Chef's Case while enjoying live music. The evening wraps with a glass of Champagne in the Cooking School as guests decorated two chocolate truffles with a variety of finishing options. Each attendee receives a loaded goodie bag crafted just for our fellow foodies – because we all know, after 10 years, that heading home from Central Market means the deliciousness is just beginning! Tickets are $25, available via the Cooking School web site on centralmarket.com.
Big Band Celebration– Many decades before Central Market Lovers Lane could celebrate a decade at its current location, the popular corner was occupied by LouAnn’s nightclub, a swinging dance and supper club run by Lou and Ann Bovis, who hosted performers such as Lawrence Welk and Jimmy Reed. Recapture the fun and soul of LouAnn’s on Saturday, September 22 from 7pm-10 pm, as Hunter Sullivan and his Big Band perform. Tickets are just $10 for light snacks and room on the dance floor. A cash bar for beer and wine will be available, too. Plus, the tent is air conditioned and all proceeds benefit Children’s Medical Center of Dallas!
Memory Posting– While in the store that week, customers will be able to jot down their favorite memories of the historic location, LouAnn’s or Central Market on a Memory Wall, which will be displayed in-store for customers to view.
