Winner of Top Chef: Masters to host cooking class and book signing for new memoir “Yes, Chef”
WHO: Marcus Samuelsson, award-winning chef of New York City’s Red Rooster Harlem and winner of Top Chef: Masters will be making a special appearance at Central Market on July 17. In celebration of his brand-new book Yes, Chef: A Memoir, Samuelsson will once again return to Central Market for both a book signing and an exclusive cooking class.
Yes, Chef is Marcus Samuelsson’s unconventional memoir about food and family. Samuelsson relays his experiences of losing his mother to tuberculosis in Ethiopia, being adopted by a Swedish family who planted the seed of a love for cooking, and his growth as a chef that brought him to the U.S.
Yes, Chef chronicles Samuelsson’s journey from his grandmother’s humble kitchen to some of the most demanding restaurants in Switzerland and France. Upon finding his way to New York City, Samuelsson earned a coveted three-star rating from The New York Times for his work at Aquavit at the age of 24, making him the youngest chef ever to receive such an accolade.
Join Central Market’s Cooking School and Marcus Samuelsson for a 4 p.m. book signing followed by a cooking class at 6:30 p.m. Space is limited.
Book signing reservations are not required but are recommended; for $20, it includes a copy of the book and ensures you will have your book signed. Books may be purchased for $20, while supplies last, day-of at the book signing event.
The 6:30 p.m. cooking class can be reserved online.
