Ingredients

Crust
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 2 tbsp Southern Comfort
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour spooned and leveled, plus more for pan
  • 3/4 cup unbleached pastry flour
  • 2 tbsp ultrafine sugar
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp cold water
Filling
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup white corn syrup
  • 2 tbsp Southern Comfort
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter chilled, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

For the crust
  1. Combine the egg yolks and 2 tablespoons Southern Comfort in a bowl and mix well.
  2. Place the flours, 2 tablespoons ultrafine sugar and 1/4 teaspoon salt in a food processor and pulse to combine.
  3. Add 3 tablespoons butter cut into 1/2-inch pieces and pulse until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add the cold water and egg yolk mixture in a stream, processing until mixture forms a ball.
  5. Chill, wrapped in plastic wrap, for 1 hour.
  6. Roll into a 12-inch circle on a lightly floured surface. Fit into an 11-inch tart pan with a false bottom.
  7. Chill in the refrigerator.
For the filling
  1. Pulse 3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar, eggs, corn syrup, remaining 2 tablespoons Southern Comfort, vanilla, almond extract and 1/4 teaspoon salt in a food processor to mix.
  2. Add 1/4 cup unsalted, chilled butter and pulse until mixed. Pour into the pastry-lined tart pan.
  3. Sprinkle the pecans over the top. Bake in a preheated 350-degree oven for 45 minutes or until filling is set, covering loosely with foil if pecans become too brown.
  4. Let stand until at room temperature.
